Capital Pups is a thriving, independent pet play community based in Ottawa, dedicated to fostering a welcoming and inclusive space for pup play enthusiasts. Ottawa's pet play community began via the group Ruff 'n' Tumble, a part of the Ottawa Knights Leather Community.

In 2017, Ruff 'n' Tumble lost its venue when Centretown Pub closed its doors, and with no official events being organized, local pups took matters into their own hands. They began hosting gatherings in private homes and borrowed spaces to keep the pack barking and playing together.

As these grassroots events became more frequent and well-attended, it became clear that there was a strong desire for an official pup community in Ottawa. In July 2018, Capital Pups officially registered as a nonprofit, solidifying its presence and commitment to the local pet play community.

Though we have grown into our own distinct entity, we remain grateful for the foundations laid by the Ottawa Knights and Ruff 'n' Tumble. Their support in our early years was instrumental in shaping what Capital Pups is today. Over the years, we have also enjoyed positive relationships with the Ottawa Knights and the Ottawa Bear Community, participating in their events. While some of these collaborations paused during the pandemic, we continue to value the connections we have built.

Today, Capital Pups stands as a vibrant, community-driven group, dedicated to organizing safe, fun, and inclusive events for all who embrace pet play in Ottawa. Whether you're new to the scene or a longtime member, we welcome you to be a part of our growing pack!
